Supporting youth in a care system with adjusting to society and becoming self-reliant

The NCRC uses customized education to help adolescents in a care system develop the capacity for self-reliance and ultimately achieve stable self-sufficiency.

    • Camping experiences for youth in a care system and operating a self-reliance experience center

    • Employee burnout prevention training
  • Comprehensive housing service for youth in transition
    • Tailoring case management services to the needs of individual adolescents in transition
    • Empowerment of youth eligible for housing support
    • Training for integrated case managers in housing support
    • Consulting services for institutions responsible for housing support
  • Support for aging-out of youth with borderline intellectual functioning (BIF)
    • Continuing and intensive training for teachers working with youth with BIF
    • Developing a manual for the project designed to support aging-out of youth with BIF
    • Consulting services for project participants in each area
  • Building a network to support aging-out youth
    • Supporting local institutions that sponsor adolescents close to aging-out
    • Operating a comprehensive management system to support independent living
    • Researching adolescent self-reliance and publishing a manual on aging-out and statistical reports
    • Operating a consultative body in support of aging-out youth
